Kankavati is widely used during marriage ceremonies to store rice and red powder (sindoor) used to apply tilak on forehead. It is also used to welcome guests on various occasions and during religious ceremonies to store flowers, turmeric powder and lamps. The kankavati is characterized by hand made Nakshi patterns and has three legs to stand on. It is round in shape and has floral and Velpatti patterns. Ghughroo bells are tied along its boundary on the lower side. It has 85% silver content in it. It has a width of around 5.75 inches and weighs around 270 grams.
