Kankavati is widely used during marriage ceremonies to store rice and red powder (sindoor) used to apply tilak on forehead. It is also used to welcome guests on various occasions and during religious ceremonies to store flowers, turmeric powder and lamps. The kankavati is characterised by hand made Nakshi patterns and has three legs to stand on. It is hexagonal in shape and has floral and Velpatti patterns. Silver chain (jalar) along with Ghughroo bells is tied to small poles along its boundary. It has 85% silver content in it. It has a width of around 4.5 inches and weighs around 165 grams.
